Sound Lab 02
6pm - 9pm, Saturday 20 September

Sound Lab 02 features NIDALA, Myki Jay, RedBelly, and more. Enjoy live music and experience the exhibitions up late.

Sound Lab is a new performance series centred on experimental contemporary music, presented within the context of the current exhibitions. This program aims to support the professional development of regional musicians while contributing to a dynamic and diverse sonic landscape of the Northern Rivers. Featuring a mix of local talent alongside artists from Meanjin and beyond, Sound Lab creates opportunities for connection and future collaboration between regional and metropolitan musicians.

Free, all welcome, no bookings required.

About NIDALA
NIDALA is a Jabirr-Jabirr and Djugun singer-songwriter, public speaker, and Indigenous wisdom storyteller. Her work roots itself in relentless hope, a deep care for Country, and reverence for Indigenous cultural practitioners. Following her acclaimed, carbon-neutral debut EP Colours Of My People, Nidala returns with a new EP that explores inheritance, connection to Country, and the stories that shape us. The first single, “Ground Deep”, released Friday 15 August, is a dreamy exploration on belonging—calling listeners to slow down, listen deeply, and root themselves in what matters most.

About Myki Jay
Myki Jay (they/them) is a queer folk artist weaving poetry, activism, and folk expression into song. Their intimate performances celebrate resilience, silliness, and joy. An award-nominated songwriter and community arts leader, Myki’s work uplifts and inspires, creating spaces where music becomes a place for connection and change.

About RedBelly
RedBelly is a Bundjalung DJ and multi-disciplinary artist, weaving sounds of house, soul, funk, and Blak voices.
