Sound Lab 02 features NIDALA, Myki Jay, RedBelly, and more. Enjoy live music and experience the exhibitions up late. Sound Lab is a new performance series centred on experimental contemporary music, presented within the context of the current exhibitions. This program aims to support the professional development of regional musicians while contributing to a dynamic and diverse sonic landscape of the Northern Rivers. Featuring a mix of local talent alongside artists from Meanjin and beyond, Sound Lab creates opportunities for connection and future collaboration between regional and metropolitan musicians.

About NIDALA
NIDALA is a Jabirr-Jabirr and Djugun singer-songwriter, public speaker, and Indigenous wisdom storyteller. Her work roots itself in relentless hope, a deep care for Country, and reverence for Indigenous cultural practitioners. Following her acclaimed, carbon-neutral debut EP Colours Of My People, Nidala returns with a new EP that explores inheritance, connection to Country, and the stories that shape us. The first single, “Ground Deep”, released Friday 15 August, is a dreamy exploration on belonging—calling listeners to slow down, listen deeply, and root themselves in what matters most.

Myki Jay (they/them) is a queer folk artist weaving poetry, activism, and folk expression into song. Their intimate performances celebrate resilience, silliness, and joy. An award-nominated songwriter and community arts leader, Myki’s work uplifts and inspires, creating spaces where music becomes a place for connection and change.
