Our guest artist @ COLLAGE CLUB this month is Sandra Kaji-O'Grady
3 - 5pm, Thursday August 17
Our next Collage Club guest artist is Sandra Kaji-O'Grady! She will join us at Lismore Quadrangle on Thursday 17 August, from 3 - 5pm. As part of Dark Science: New Moon, our National Science week program Sandra will explore human and non-human animal relationships in her imagery. Sandra is an obsessive collector of encyclopaedia and how-to books from the last century, and she will bring her 'more is never enough' sensibility to Collage Club guiding you on how to use layers of handcut images and paint to create visual and emotional depth! Sandra is the co-curator of Lismore Encore, an exhibition at our Pop-up gallery from 20 July – 19 August 2023.
Professor Sandra Kaji-O'Grady trained as an architect, followed by a PhD in Serial Art, Music and Architecture. She left academia in 2020 to establish the Lismore-based Possible Studio with her architect partner. Her art practice spans collage, stencil art, drawing and painting and is aesthetically drawn to repetition, accumulation and excess. For her, art is a means of confronting the mediated ways in which humans 'know', represent, and exploit the natural world.
