In the tradition of Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Nick Drake, Elizabeth Cotton and Mississipi John Hurt, Cross forges a unique Australian perspective on the genre.Free, no bookings required. About Darren D.C Cross
Previously of Sydney trailblazers Gerling and folk noir duo Jep and Dep, Cross has knuckled down for the last 8 years specialising in the fingerstyle hybrid of what he calls Australian Ecstatic Guitar, the sweet spot between Doc Watson Bluegrass, British Folk revival and American Primitive guitar, and influenced by German duo Kolbe & Illenberger.
Cross has been creating music for the last 25 years, from Gerling to Jep and Dep, has written songs with Kool Keith, Kylie Minogue. He has played shows with artists ranging from Beastie Boys, Beck, and Happy Monday to Johnny Marr, Courtney Barnett, Ryley Walker, Smog, Will Oldham to more recently Ed Kuepper and Jim White, Xylouris White, Messesque Mess-esque, Marissa Anderson and the Apartments.
