Online Artist Talk: Blinman Slag with artist Grayson Cooke
4pm Thurs 2 Apr 2020
Online
Join local artist Grayson Cooke for a online talk about his current exhibition Blinman Slag.
In this presentation, artist Grayson Cooke will discuss the genesis of the project (fossicking among a slag dump on the Northern Flinders Ranges), the development of the artistic materials (obsessively photographing slag samples, bombarding them with strobe lights, heating them to 1500 degrees and casting them into ingots) and the underpinning concepts behind the work. He will explain some of the technical processes and materials used on the project, such as photogrammetry and infrared imaging, and reflect on how these many processes develop a language for the project that bridges artistic and scientific enquiry.
