Watercolour and Ink Portraits workshop for Young People with Beki Davies
During this 5 hour workshop participants will learn techniques of Illustration, tone and colour, and will be create A3 sized portrait in a vibrant and contemporary wet-ink style; of themselves or someone else.
This workshop will also teach tattoo style design techniques, that create a funky narrative to truly capture the personality of their subject. Students will need to bring, a clear, digital photograph of their chosen subject, the picture should include their face and being taken from the shoulders up. Mobile phone pictures are fine or a photo on a USB so images can be printed out.
About Beki Davies
Beki Davies is a contemporary visual artist who lives and works in Lismore. She is strongly committed to her arts practice and has recently undertaken an artist in residency at the Pickers Hut Art Residency in Cradoc, Tasmania. Beki holds a Diploma of Visual Arts, Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts, and graduated from her Bachelor of Art and Design in 2019 and is currently undertaking Honours at Southern Cross University. She has facilitated a number of workshops and classes within the Northern Rivers region, including ceramics classes at REDinc, illustration workshops at Lismore Art Space and co-facilitator weaving workshops at Muse Gallery. Beki has worked extensively in the Arts industry, with 15 years as a professional tattooist and is a prolific illustrator, printmaker and ceramicist. She has also curated many group and solo shows as founder and Co-director of Muse Contemporary Gallery, an artist run initiative in Lismore NSW.
