ABOUT ARIS & TARING PADI:
Aris Prabawa was born in Solo, Java, Indonesia and now lives and works in Lismore. He is a founding member of the Taring Padi art and activist collective from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, formed in 1998 during the general upheaval following the fall of Suharto.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Aris will share his unique art knowledge, ideas and stories of his experiences of art and activism, whilst also engaging participants to develop designs and create large scale cardboard puppets, inspired by the puppets Taring Padi uses as tools for protest and activism.
The puppets created during the workshops will be included in Taring Padi's contribution to the Documenta fifteen exhibition in Kassel, Germany from 18 June - 25 September 2022.
