Islands not to scale (Maru a’o) – Act II
6 September – 16 November
This evolving exhibition series explores themes of scale, movement, and representation from a diasporic Pacific perspective. The title references a 1980s Cook Islands tourism brochure in which a map carried the footnote “islands not to scale” — a factual disclaimer that Carrol recontextualises as a critical lens for interrogating colonial cartographic frameworks.
Sonia Levy
We Marry You, O Sea, as a Sign of True and Perpetual Dominion
22 August – 16 November
This artwork engages with Venice and its Lagoon from below, focusing on their submerged, life-giving, and altered ecologies to complicate the Italian city’s dominant narratives of expansion and top-down hydro-defence strategies.
Melanie Valentine
Active Stillness
15 August – 5 October
Melanie’s exhibition captures the tension between chaos and calm from the perspective of a neurodivergent artist. Each artwork serves as a visual journal: autobiographical snapshots blending symbolism and personal experience, documenting moments of emotional turbulence and the search for balance and stillness.
We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery for this event.
