NOISY HOUR with Paul Walker
5 - 6pm, Thursday 6 February
We are excited to debut our new program NOISY HOUR with a facilitated movement piece by Paul Walker. In response to the sounds and imagery of I am not me, the horse is not mine by William Kentridge, audience members are encouraged to participate by joining Paul in using their bodies to experience the exhibition through movement and gesture. NOISY HOUR is part of our accessibility program, with the aim of encouraging audiences to experience the exhibitions in unexpected ways, to move, make sounds and express themselves freely in the gallery during the hour.
Bookings: Free, bookings preferred. Book now.
Accessibility: The Gallery is wheelchair accessible. If you would like to discuss your access requirements please email linsey.gosper@lismore.nsw.gov.au or call 02 6627 4606.
About Paul Walker
Paul Walker (He/They) is a dancer, performance artist and community arts worker based on Widjabul Wia-bal Bundjalung Country. For over 20 years Paul has been performing, teaching, and making dance, live art, interactive performance, cabaret, drawing, and community art projects. Paul experiments with these forms to explore themes and practices based on our relationships to our bodies, each other, and the more-than-human world.
Since 2017, Paul has been working with people with disabilities as a dance facilitator and choreographer, and he is currently the Lead Facilitator of the Movement Makers program and Dance Trainer for the Performance Ensemble at Sprung Dance Theatre. Paul’s current body of work, ‘The Art of Slowing Down to Save Our Lives’, was supported by a Critical Path Responsive Residency in 2024. With this project, Paul is researching and developing the choreography of rest through participatory ‘rest labs’ that include somatic movement and art practices for the community to engage with.
