Art and Ageing Enrichment Program
Wednesdays, 2 October - 13 November, 10am - 12pm
Facilitated by artist Aaron McGarry, this program aims to enrich lives and enhance social interaction and community for ageing people through engagement with the arts and hands-on, creative activities in an accessible, inclusive and supportive setting. It is hosted weekly on Wednesday mornings and includes a gallery tour, morning tea in our event space, and an art activity. This program is free, but registration is essential—book now. Participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions. Community transport is available to participants and is proudly supported by HART Services. About Aaron McGarry
Aaron earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialization in sculpture from the National Art School in Sydney in 2021. His artistic journey has taken him through various exhibitions across Australia, and his artistic talents have been recognized through commissions for public art installations by esteemed institutions such as Inner West Council NSW, George's River City Council NSW, Willoughby City Council NSW, and Moreland City Council VIC.
Beyond creating captivating artwork, Aaron is deeply committed to fostering community engagement through online and in-person workshops. He has shared his expertise in collage, assemblage, and broader artistic creation with diverse audiences. During the challenging times of the pandemic, Aaron channelled his passion for art into initiatives to promote mental health and well-being, particularly among isolated seniors. He developed and spearheaded several successful programs that provided therapeutic outlets and culminated in exhibitions, ensuring a meaningful experience for the participating artists and the wider community.
