Clarence Slockee: a talk on cultural landscaping
30 September
11.00am Friday

Join us for a talk with Clarence Slockee at the Lismore Quadrangle!

Clarence will discuss cultural landscaping through his passion for native flora and the importance of biodiversity for healthy and sustainable ecosystems. His experience covers a decade presenting on Gardening Australia, working at The Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, Barangaroo in Sydney, South Eveleigh Native Rooftop Farm and most recently as Director of the Indigenous company Jiwah, creating urban green spaces to improve urban ecologies, biodiversity and feature native edible and medicinal plants.

Andrew Rewald’s exhibition Plant Treaty creates the backdrop for this exciting talk and follows on from a previous talk with Arakwal/Bundjalung woman and plant knowledge holder Aunty Delta Kay on local indigenous foodways, and Andrew Rewald on the environmental, historical and cultural significance of both native and introduced plants in eco-reparation, agriculture, foraging and fermentation practices.

When you visit Plant Treaty, scan the QR code for more information on Rewald’s plant archive and food-plant-people relationships.
