Auslan Interpreted event.
Join us for an online Auslan interpreted Artist in Conversation with artist Jeremy Hawkes and Liz Martin musician and Accessible Arts Arts Development & Training Manager.
Jeremy and Liz will discuss topics such as the Body as recurring imagery in Jeremy's work. The impact of lockdown on creative practice and as an artist with disability. New and future directions and upcoming projects. And the role of the arts in an increasingly volatile and rapidly changing world.
About the Exhibition:
Jeremy is currently exhibiting his body of work Ingress at Lismore Regional Gallery till 10 Jan 2021. The works in Ingress were created during the Covid lockdown of 2020. A year in which his plans to travel to the UK and work with acclaimed artist Rachel Gadsen (as part of his Australia Council Disability Arts Mentoring Initiative) dramatically changed.
Jeremy Hawkes says about his new series of work: "The Coronavirus hit and the world changed. An invisible flood, a deluge of absenceβ¦ I found myself somewhat stuck in Brisbane β safe indeed, but full of uncertainty. I found a gorgeous studio and kept working. What else could I do? βIngressβ is the work I have undertaken since the virus hit."
