Archibald Prize 2024
Inside the Archibald Prize 2024 education resource brings together the portraits, facts and stories of the prize with supporting strategies for teaching and learning about portraiture across all learning levels. This learning resource is designed to be used in conjunction with a visit to the Archibald Prize exhibition or to support studies in portraiture.
- A learning resource designed to engage students with the 2024 Archibald Prize and inspire art-making, critical thinking and discussion about portrait painting. K–6 questions and activities encourage students to identify, discuss and experiment with different techniques, media and subject matter within portraiture. 7–12 questions and activities are designed to support student analysis of the artworks using the frames and conceptual framework. - Portraiture: this learning resource is designed to engage primary and secondary students with the ideas and practices of portraiture.
- Young Archie Competition: invites budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 to submit a portrait.
OCCURRENT AFFAIR, proppaNOW
The OCCURENT AFFAIR education resource offers:
- Insight into the practice and history of the proppaNOW collective
- A glossary of terms, guide to cultural safety and introduction to how to Acknowledge Country
- Thematically based activities for students and teachers for use in the classroom, or the gallery
- Links for further reading and exploration
The activities in this resource aim to be used flexibly by all ages and abilities but are particularly aimed towards high school students and adult learners. They may be undertaken before, during or after an exhibition visit. While these activities have been written with secondary students in mind, teachers are encouraged to adapt these learning activities to suit their context and their students.

Inside ARTEXPRESS lets you explore artists and works back to 2005. It includes process diaries for some students and related artworks in the Art Gallery’s collection to consider.
