An Art Gallery of New South Wales exhibition toured by Museums & Galleries of NSW
Since its inception in 1921, the Archibald Prize has continued to be one of Australia’s most prestigious art awards and never fails to draw interest, attention and debate. Awarded to the best portrait painting, the Archibald Prize is a who’s who of Australian culture – from politicians to celebrities, sporting heroes to artists. This year, 54 finalists were shortlisted by the Trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales from 884 entries. Ultimately, Fiona Lowry was awarded as the winner, receiving $75,000 for her portrait, Penelope Seidler.

Budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 are invited to submit a portrait for the Young Archie competition, as part of the Archibald Prize 2014 Regional Tour at Lismore Regional Gallery in 2015.
