An ongoing exploration of industrial structures in the landscape.
My process is largely driven by curiosity. Living in the rural Australian landscape I am often struck by the curious structures that punctuate the often sparse open vistas and vast horizons.
Questions arise about what functions these constructions perform. How they are designed and how and why they are built, their function and how we relate aesthetically to these structures that inhabit our landscape?
As Bernd and Hilla Becher wrote of their photographed industrial structures … “ ..they are honest, and they reflect what they do… a person is always what he or she wants to be , never what he or she is….”
These constructions stand as anonymous sculptures, this body of work reflects a human response, an appreciation of their honest silence.
