Michael Moynihan’s lyrical sculpture/installation takes discarded materials and objects that still contain material memory of past use. The Prometheus of Surrey Hills is a mechanical piece, assembled from materials salvaged from old houses the artist has lived in and renovated with his family over the years. Surreal and often satirical in bent, the work reflects on how we inhabit spaces, physically and psychologically, whilst also highlighting the layered history and beauty of our domestic spaces.
