Lore is a series of paintings that explore the function of storytelling in the formation of personal narratives. Essentially, stories consist of archetypes acting as allegories from which oneâs life is shaped. When we are âinâ the story and playing our parts, it can be difficult to see the broader context of our experiences and relationships with others. This exhibition explores history and memory, the fantastical and sublime, place, and relationships. My creative practice often investigates personal, societal and environmental systems that are in the act of collapse. I am interested in the âend of the worldâ narrative present in popular culture, world-building, eco-catastrophe, discovery and classification, ideas around the utopia/dystopia binary, and our relationship to the environment.
