This exhibition draws together three artists, painter Christine James (Lismore) photographer Christopher Meagher (Woodburn) and ceramicist Janet DeBoos (Canberra) in an examination of a landscape of particular personal relevance to the artists.
All three have a close connection with Bundjalung National Park, on the coast near Lismore. DeBoos’ exquisitely worked porcelain objects employ representation of wallum and other heath blooms using doucai and fencai overglaze techniques, while Christopher Meagher’s panoramic images convey a sense of isolation and primeval mystery in parts of Bundjalung National Park. Christine James’ detailed panoramic paintings of heathland and wetland evoke her lifelong wonder for the biodiversity and beauty of Eastern Australia’s coastal heath.
