Succulent friends
Saturday 7 February, 10am - 12pm
Succulents are popular garden plants due to their low maintenance and distinctive forms, but for many people the word 'succulent' only produces images of introduced species from South Africa, Madagascar and beyond. Introduced succulents are often sold casually on roadsides and at markets but they can have a devastating impact on biodiversity and ecology. Native succulents are all around us, but we are often unaware. Succulent friends is an art workshop that helps audiences identify local native succulents and consider growing them at home to improve biodiversity and ecology. Designed by exhibiting artist Clare Milledge, the workshop will be facilitated by local visual ecologist Aviva Reed. You’ll create colourful artwork, learn about local native succulents, be inspired to create your own low-maintenance 'succulent friend' garden at home and share cuttings with friends and family.
Tickets: $15, $10 concession. Limited tickets, bookings essential, book now. This workshop is for adults aged 16 +
